A tone break of 50 will pick up most rings and larger pieces of gold jewelry. Many of the smaller earrings, pendants and chains will be in the 40s. Small gold nugget pickers in the low 40s. Also keep in mind that on deeper targets the id wanders, usually downward. The 40s is also the range of all the bits of foil as well as small gold. I like 40 for totlots, sandy areas, any place where it is easy to recover all targets. In turf I run it around 50 as I don't want to dig too many holes in the grass but I still want to pick up nickels. Congrats on finding the gold ring!

Hi, I'm glad I ran across your video yesterday, after I did some park hunting with my GBPro-DP.
I've been running at tone break 50, and digging mostly pulltabs, in hopes to find gold (I did find a gentleman's gold wedding band, using tone break 50 and returned it to him immediately - which blew him away - as he was thinking he lost it for sure - he had lost it the day before, and ran across someone who knew me, that I had a detector)
But, I'd better run at tone break 40, huh? Fisher says gold is found just to the right of dead center, but I forgot the discrimination only runs up to 80, NOT 100!
Thanks!
I'm new to this machine- had it less than a year
