Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger

Basically, the Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger has been around for awhile. Can you find gold with it? Sure you can. I personally have found gold with this machine. I was given a Scorpion Gold Stinger metal detector over ten years ago. It was my first gold machine and the one that I used the most. I found my first gold nuggets with the Gold Stinger.

There are some nice features on this machine such as multiple hunting modes and even a discrimination circuit. Using the discrimination, I have successfully used this metal detector to find many coins as well as gold. I would definitely consider the Scorpion Gold Stinger a multi-purpose metal detector.

As for the gold, I have found pickers as small as 5-6 grains at a few inches depth and gold nuggets as large as 1/3 ounce. I never did find a nugget deeper than 5 inches, though the Scorpion Gold Stinger might go deeper in other ground mineral conditions.

One of the challenges of using this metal detector is its ground balancing process. Push a button here, turn some knobs there, spin in a circle and jump in the air at just the right time and you are ready to go. Ok, so I am being a little sarcastic, but only a little. Ground balancing the Scorpion Gold Stinger requires a few extra steps not required on other gold metal detectors.

I know that there are people out there that have found a lot of gold with the Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger and I have found some as well, BUT I would not likely recommend this metal detector to a beginner because of the ground balancing procedure. If Garrett could make the process simpler and keep the same price point, then it would be a great way to go.
