Here are some pictures of gold that is still in the host rock. These specimens come from the La Paz, Arizona region. These are good examples of the fact that gold frequently occurs in a heavily mineralized host rock. As you can see, gold is associated with a variety of minerals. The gold ore has been wetted to better bring out the colors of the minerals. Each gold ore specimen is about one to one and half inches in length.
